Terms And Conditions Of Emergency Detection Feature

HOW IT WORKS

The Wherespet Emergency Detection feature was designed for people who live alone with their pets, which may not have regular interaction with close friends or family, and are therefore more vulnerable in case of a medical emergency.

It works by having the app check your phone's motion and location information to translate it into "All OK", "SOS", or "Potential Emergency" status.

This is very useful in situations where you may have a medical emergency and are unable to contact anyone, because our platform will warn your emergency contacts of a potential emergency, so they can check-up on you and yours pets within a 24 hour window.

To begin using this feature, start by adding emergency contacts. Your emergency contacts will receive an authorization request on their e-mail. Please be sure to call them and ask to check their e-mail, including SPAM folder for the Wherespet e-mails. Once authorized, their respective contact icon turns to green, and whenever there are changes to emergency status, they will get a notification on their e-mail.

TECHNOLOGY LIMITATIONS

The technology is not perfect and has limitations that may render it ineffective under certain conditions:

1 - It's fully dependent on Operative System limits. iOS and Android OS and users may limit background tasks, location and motion detection, usually for battery saving purposes, which will render the feature innoperable.

2 - Wherespet has no control over Operative System limitations and variable restrictions.

3 - The cellphone may be located somewhere where GPS signal is not strong enough to get a location fix.

4 - Feature requires internet connection on cellphone to work.

5 - Automatic Emergency Detection Feature may trigger false "potential emergency status" for users that spend over 24 hours indoors or enable "Battery Saving Mode" or their cellphones.

DATA CONFIDENTIALITY

Wherespet Emergency Detection feature transmits movement information from the user's cellphone to Wherespet servers. Specifically, the feature only detects True or False when a movement hapenned. It also sends user-generated "All OK" or "SOS" commands to the server. Such information will only be available to authorized emergency contacts.
